Hidrogenii, Plug, and Olin Celebrate Opening of Louisiana Liquid Hydrogen Plant
Ribbon Cut. Fuelings Made. Plant is Open for Business.
Plug, together with our joint venture partner Olin Corporation, celebrated the grand opening of its Hidrogenii hydrogen liquefaction plant in St. Gabriel, Louisiana on April 23, 2025. We extend our sincere congratulations to all who attended the event for their contributions in bringing this important facility to life.
To commemorate the day, we’re excited to share a look at the future in action. The videos capture a hydrogen truck fill at the new Louisiana facility. It’s a powerful visual — a liquid hydrogen truck receiving a load of hydrogen fuel from the plant, symbolizing commercial operations and the critical role this site plays in fueling Plug’s customers across North America. The liquid hydrogen tanker is shown departing the facility at our ribbon cutting—fuel on board and bound for customers in Texas.
The Louisiana plant is now open for business. With a production capacity of 15 tons per day (TPD), the facility strengthens Plug’s growing hydrogen network and supports deliveries to key customers, including Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and others. The St. Gabriel plant joins Plug’s operational sites in Woodbine, Georgia (15 TPD) and Charleston, Tennessee (10 TPD), bringing our total hydrogen production capacity to 40 TPD across North America.
Last week’s ribbon-cutting ceremony marks another major step forward in Plug’s strategy to build a robust, reliable hydrogen supply network, advancing energy security and decarbonization goals across industries.
Hidrogenii is a joint venture between Plug and Olin Corporation, combining Plug’s hydrogen leadership with Olin’s strength as the leading producer of electrolytic hydrogen. Together, we are expanding hydrogen infrastructure and enabling the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
