Marsh Visits National Institute of Clean & Low-Carbon Energy in Beijing
Plug Power’s CEO, Mr. Andy Marsh, visited National Institute of Clean & Low-Carbon Energy (NICE) in Beijing on Thursday, September 22, 2016. While at NICE, Mr. Marsh met with Dr. Chang Wei, President and CEO of NICE, and Dr. Jimmy Li, Director of Hydrogen Energy Platform. NICE is operated by Shenhua Group, a leading state-owned mining and energy company in the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Shenhua is China’s largest hydrogen producer with a production capacity to power 40 million fuel cell passenger cars.
Mr. Marsh and Dr. Wei discussed collaboration opportunities between the two parties in hydrogen generation, transport, distribution, and applications in fuel cell powered industrial vehicles, particularly those used in coal mining sites.
Shenhua Group was founded in October 1995 under the auspices of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. It is the largest coal-producing company in China. In 2014, Shenhua Group produced 437 million tonnes of coal and sold 588 million tonnes of coal. In 2014, Shenhua Group’s revenue was 328.6 billion yuan (approximately $53 billion USD), and the company ranked 196th in the Global Fortune 500. The same year the Shenhua Group’s profit was 64 billion yuan (approximately $10 billion USD).
