GreenH2@Work Employee Spotlight: Thibault Murcia
Southern Europe’s Sales Area Manager talks about the impact of green hydrogen.
Thibault Murcia likes to reference science fiction author Jules Verne when talking about the power of green hydrogen. More than 100 years ago, Verne wrote in his book “The Mysterious Island,” that “water will one day be employed as fuel, that hydrogen and oxygen which constitute it, used singly or together, will furnish an inexhaustible source of heat and light, of an intensity of which coal is not capable.”
Today, Murcia likes to tell people that Plug made that vision — green hydrogen — a reality.
Murcia, the Sales Area Manager of Southern Europe for Plug’s electrolyzer business unit, said he jumped at the opportunity to join the company two years ago.
“This is a new and exciting market, and it’s allowing us to do something real for the climate,” he said. “I am the father of two daughters and I wanted to be part of this energy transition.”
As a regional sales manager, Murcia is tasked with supporting European customers in the electrolyzer business unit. An engineer by trade, Murcia also has the unique background of being able to explain complex solutions in a simple way.
So far, he’s had many great days at Plug, including the technical support for contract closing of the first three electrolyzers that will be commissioned in Europe this year. Another great day was the inauguration of the world’s first green hydrogen production site at sea.
“This is the kind of project that makes me proud to work at Plug,” Murcia said. “The team is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate. Plug is the top green hydrogen leader that is changing the world.”
