Marsh’s meetings in China on September 23, 2016: Zhangjiagang and AT&M
On Friday, September 23, 2016, Plug Power CEO, Andy Marsh, continued his business travels throughout China, visiting two more innovation-stimulating hydrogen and fuel cell partners.
Mr. Marsh met with Mr. Ji Huang, the Mayor of Zhangjiagang after a tour of the city’s High-Tech Incubator guided by Mr. Liang Li, the Deputy Director of Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone. Mr. Huang gave Mr. Marsh an overview of Zhangjiagang’s effort in promoting high-tech manufacturing, with a special focus in hydrogen and fuel cells. Mr. Min Yang, Director of Science & Technology Bureau, attended the meeting and the tour. Also at the meeting is Mr. Wu, Chairman of FURUI Special Equipment, a local gas and cryogenic equipment supplier listed in Shenzhen Stock Market (SZ. 300228).
Mr. Dongfang Bian, Executive Deputy Mayor of Zhangjiagang, hosted a formal reception in honor of Mr. Marsh ‘s visit to the city. Zhangjiagang is a county-level city under the administration of Suzhou, Jiangsuprovince, China, with 1,246,762 inhabitants at the 2010 census, it resides along the southern bank of Yangtze River. The city’s GDP has been constantly ranked amongst the top three in the nation’s Top 100 wealthiest counties, reached RMB 140.2 billion yuan (US$20.5 billion) in 2009, a growth of 11.7% from 2008. The GDP per capita reached RMB 155,900 yuan (ca. US$22,800). In 2008, Zhangjiagang received the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour Award for its integrated urban-rural development which improved the quality of life for its rural residents.
Mr. Andy Marsh also visited Advanced Technology & Materials (AT&M), a company listed in Shenzhen Stock Market (SZ. 000969) that is the industrial leader in metal processing equipment, automation devices, specialty materials, and transportation infrastructures. AT&M has been one of Plug Power’s key suppliers for over six years.
Mr. Marsh met with Dr. Rang Cai (2nd to the right), Chairman of AT&M’s holding company China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group (CISRI), a state-owned corporation and China’s foremost institution in metallurgical processing, metal processing, and energy storage materials. Also at the meeting are Mr. Wuping Zhou (1st to the right, President of AT&M), Mr. Jinghua Zhang (2nd to the left, VP for Strategic Planning), and Dr. Hu Guo (1st to the left), General Manager of AT&M Environmental Engineering & Technology (AEET, a subsidiary of AT&M).
