Plug Power Recipient of 2019 Technology and Manufacturing Award
Today, October 16th, Plug Power had the honor of receiving the “Powerful Partnership” award from the Rochester Business Journal and Rochester Technology & Manufacturing Association as part of their 2019 Technology and Manufacturing Awards. The “Powerful Partnership” award was presented to Plug Power as a result of the company’s years of work with several local groups, including the Rochester Institute for Technology’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability, the NextCorps Incubator program (NEXUS), EEP Quality Group (Efficient, Effective, Productive), Excel Partners, Alfred State, and Kodak.
The years of consistent work done with these groups has led to important breakthroughs for Plug Power. One such example is the development of American Fuel Cell and subsequent purchase by Plug Power in 2018. The work done by these entities includes testing and validation of the nascent fuel cell membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) developed by AFC.
Local and state support, as well as the ability to leverage such excellent human capital in the Rochester area, has directly impacted Plug Power’s ability to produce world class high performance, low cost MEAs made in the U.S. The Company is on pace to be the largest MEA producer in the country by year’s end.
Site Manager, Daniel O’Connell was on hand to accept the award during a luncheon at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center. Plug Power is appreciative of the honor and looks forward to many more years of successful work with Rochester organizations.
